Level 3 Proficient Level 2 Competent Level 1 Basic

Level 4 Student 1
Performed in-depth analysis of the group’s finished magazine advert shows a real willingness to explain how aspects of the magazine advert combines well with the group’s two other productions for example the employment of actor, mise en scene, motif and similar font style etc. The candidate’s analyse is also clearly informed by knowledge and understanding of the intended target audience and common codes and conventions of similar media text. The candidate does well to contrast their finished production with that of similar media text as a means of evaluating to what extent their finished production conforms, challenges or shows generic development. Analyse of narrative and filming conventions is suitably discussed with again clear references to similar media text and moments taken from finished media text. Audience feedback shows a genuine desire by the candidate to secure a detailed, honest and critical evaluation of the finished text.

Level 4 Student 2
The candidate discusses with great authority how and in excellent depth why the finished products use, develops and challenges many of the conventions of similar products including references to the use of costume, cutting rhythm, framing of shot and use of colour etc. Finished evaluation includes excellent comparisons with similar media, consideration of audience the placement and engagement and the marketing of the band. Discussion of use of new media technologies outlines both the purpose of its use but its added benefits over traditional use of individual media. A very personalised approach adopted throughout with a clear depth of knowledge and understanding. The candidate’s address of how effective is the combination of the finished main product and auxiliary texts is in large part performed in great depth with due care and attention paid to audience placement and engagement. Finally, audience feedback is clearly used as a premise to discuss how the production if repeated, could be improved.
